Boom Lake Open:
We are currently working on sponsorships for the Boom Lake Open. Please talk to everyone you know about the possibility of donating a door prize, food, or money contribution to the open. The club will have a sheet you can hand out explaining who the Hodag Bassmasters are, and how their gifts will be used to benefit the club and community.
Time to Fish!
Yep, its finally here. Our first tournament is next weekend, Saturday May 7th on Lake Wausau.
We usually start these spring outings at 8:00 AM are planning take-off at 7:00 AM due to the possibility of high traffic at the landing as it is opening day. This body of water has been open to fishing since the ice has been off. We are hoping that all the people who wanted to fish it have gotten it out of their system and will be heading to other lakes for the opener.
If you like Mud, this lake is for you. While pre-fishing with Chris Yogerst we found that navigation can be a trick. No boat damage occurred as we idled around the suspicious areas, but did get stuck in the Mud a few time. BE CAREFUL! Managed one smallie in about 5 hours of high winds and 30-40 degree temps. Gotta love it.
Sign Up for first three Tourneys:
Since our next meeting isn’t until Monday June 6th, we need to get people signed up for Wausau, Pelican, and Post at this Mondays Meeting. If you plan on fishing any or all please contact John Holmes @ 282-3529 as soon as possible. Pelican and Post are paper tournaments so we are going to need some guests to bring along as witnesses for the boaters. Guests can enter the tournament and fish for the same money if they like, or just observe. We plan on pairing up all the non-boaters with boaters by a random draw. The remaining un-partnered boaters will be REQUIRED to find a guest to bring along. Your guest will not fish with you , but will be paired with another partnerless boater before take-off.
Zone Entries Needed:
As of this week Jack only has a few of our Zone entries returned and completed to him. We need all of these ASAP. If you cannot bring it to the meeting Monday please be sure to get it to Jack or John as fast as you can.
Remember to include a photo copy of both sides of both your BASS card and Federation Card. If you are a boater at zone you must also have a copy of your liability insurance in order to participate.
Kids Casting Event:
We are now intending to have the kids casting event on the Saturday of the Boom Lake Open. This will be done between 2:00 pm and the 4:00 pm weigh-in. We are looking for 6 volunteers to run the program. Two for sign-in
Two for teaching and two for scoring. If you are interested please let someone know!
That’s all for now.
Hope to see you Monday at the meeting.
Keep your line tight!
Jim
